The Pandeiro (a type of tambourine) is one of the most popular Brazilian percussion instruments, used in a wide variety of genres throughout the country.

In this course, you will learn what we consider to be the fundamentals of playing the plastic head Pandeiro ("Pandeiro de Nylon") in the traditional context of a small group samba setting (such as a samba/pagode band or a "roda de samba" gathering). Aside from how to hold the instrument, you will learn the primary strokes, foundational techniques, several basic rhythms, some typical variations, how to play with the samba swing, and how to put together an arrangement for a song.
